Healdsburg Wine Country Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and 15 miler (point-to-point) 
Start: Saturday, Oct 25th, 2008  7:15am
Rosso Bianco Winery at 300 Sovereign Rd. just off Hwy 101 between Healdsburg and Geyserville
Bus transportation to start from Healdsburg, and from Lake Sonoma finish area.
Finish: Lake Sonoma (Warm Springs Recreation Area)

15 Mile Option: For those seeking a more grueling challenge than running 13.1 miles through the wine country may elect to run through the half marathon finish line and continue on for an additional 1.9 miles to a finish area at the Lake Sonoma overlook trail. Please note this is an uphill climb to the Lake!  Runners who complete the 15 miler will be timed and an award goes to the fastest up the hill.  Transportation is provided back from the 15 mile finish to the main finish area and festival at the recreation area below.

Packet Pickup: It is recommended you (or a friend) pick up your race packet in advance at the race expo on Friday. Packets include event information, your bib, timing chip, shirt, special offers and more. See Expo or Packet Pickup page for more information.

Race Day pickup option $8:
If you or a friend cannot make pick up your packet in advance, a late pickup option is provided on Saturday from 5:30am to 6:30am at the start area. The cost of this option is $8 and can be paid online with registration.

Team Information

How can I set up a Team?
We encourage team entries for this race so sign up a group of your friends, running club or health club colleagues, or get your company to sponsor a team.
To register, have a captain register your team name and password online here and pass it on to team members to receive $5 off per entry.  Please make sure you have your team in place before signing up as a team.

Can I add team members?
Your team should have a minimum of 6 runners ready to sign up when you register the team online. Team members need to sign up individually. Once your team is established, you may add more members with your password and team name, as long as spots are open. If you do not have a minimum of 6 members by the time registration closes, each individual will be charged an additional fee.

Transportation

This is a point-to-point course and there is NO parking at the start area!
Transportation will be provided from three locations, including the finish area, a local winery near the start and downtown Healdsburg from Parkpoint Health Club.  See the transportation page for more details.

Parking

There is NO parking near the start area on in the winery. Parking is available in downtown Healdsburg and at the finish area near Lake Sonoma, and transportation is provided to runners from those areas. There is a drop area in front of the winery or you may park at a nearby winery and take a shuttle to the start area. More information will be provided prior the race.

Awards

  • $2,000 in cash and over $5,000 in wine and prizes will be awarded. 
  • Ball Watches are given to the first place M and F valued at $2,500 per watch
  • Top Male & Female from Sonoma County receive special award plus wine
  • Awards to top male and female in half marathon age divisions: 20 & under, 21-24,25-29,30-34,35-39,40-44,45-49,50-54,55-59,60-65,65-69, 70+.
  • Number of awards within the category based on number of entries.
  • A special award is given to the fastest M and F up Lake Sonoma Hill (2 miles).
  • Racewalk category is not judged and therefore not awarded
  • Divisions are determined by the runner's age on race day

Race Weather

Race start time temperatures are usually ideal and will be in the high 40's or 50's. October temperatures are usually very moderate and pleasant during the day and sunshine is the norm. Temperatures could reach as high as the mid 70's at mid-day. There is typically little rain this time of year, but evening temperatures can be cool.

Race Timing / Results

We utilize the IPICO computerized timing system, Chip timing starts when you reach the starting line and your finish time is then calculated precisely when you cross the finish line, however, USATF requires using the actual gun time to for final placement. Be sure to return your chip to the collection boxes after you finish or you will be charged a $30 fee. Results will be posted at the event and are available on-site, and online.

This years version features three runners on course, two of which are in costume, passing an admiring lady sipping wine on the veranda of one of the many wineries on course.
