START at ROSSO & BIANCO WINERY
You'll be hard-pressed to find a more impressive start area for your 13.1 mile jaunt through the wine country.
Located just off of Hwy 101 at the Independence Lane exit, Rosso & Bianco Winery by Francis Ford Coppola Presents is being renovated into a majestic destination winery, unlike any you've ever visited. The winery will be undergoing renovations during the race, but the tasting room will be open and tours will be offered during normal hours. Parking is not allowed at the winery so please use the designated parking and drop-areas or take the provided transportation to the start. Once you pass through the Rosso & Bianco gates your journey into the Alexander and Dry Creek Valley begins!
Vineyards, 21 wineries and aid stations that rock! Photo opportunities galore. You'll pass 21 wineries on the course! If you pass more than that you are no longer on course. There will be a minimum of 8 aid stations on course, and these are not your typical water stops! Sponsored by wineries and the local market, many will offer additional treats and wine samples just to keep you motivated. Please feel free to sample the offerings but don't linger too long, the best part comes after the race! You are running during the most beautiful time of all, as the vines shimmer with autumn colored leaves. Feel free to bring your camera, but leave the big telephoto lens in the car.Lay in the grass, take a dip in the lake, listen to music and try the wines
Its hard to imagine a more enjoyable finish to your wine country journey than a finish at Warm Springs Recreation area at Lake Sonoma for the Wine & Music Festival. Sample wines and food from the area in a beautiful setting in at the top of Dry Creek Valley. Runners who wish to finish at the Lake may run the additional 1.9 miles to the lookout area (15 mile run option) but be warned now....its uphill, or take a shuttle to the lake. Rinse off and get ready for the Wine & Music Festival. Stay and play, bring the family and have a picnic. There is plenty of room!RACE SAFETY AND REGULATIONSRace participants must obey CHP, police and course marshals at all times!
