What is Domain name ?

When you think of building your website on a platform like WordPress or Blogger, the first thing to remember is what will be its domain name. If you don't know what the Domain Name is, then it does not matter, let's know what the domain is and its type.

What is Domain Name ?

A domain is the name of your website like www.imbochi.com it is the name of our website. But the story does not end here. The domain is run from the system. It is called DNS. DNS means Domain Name System. This is the main address or web address of your site Like imbochi's web address is "www.imbochi.com" in which "imbochi.com" is a domain name.

Is the domain necessary? yes, initially there were IP addresses rather than Web addresses, the full name of the IP address is Internet Protocol Address, in today's time, Without an IP address, the computer cannot be connected to the Internet or any network.

What is IP address (Internet Protocol)

Every website has an IP address so that it can be identified on the Internet, it is exactly like the zip code of your city, but will you be able to remember the names of 20 cities better or their Pincode. You will be able to remember the name better. The same problem was in remembering the IP address of a website, for example, you can remember Google.in Web Address more easily, but if you are asked to remember the IP address of Google.in ie 172.217.9.164, then there will be very few people who would like to remember 172.217.9.164 instead of Google.in.

How DNS(Domain Name System) works ?

The domain name system converts the domain you have typed into an IP address. It instructs your name server to search for this IP and access it. If we talk about the name server, then the domain on the Internet Is the official name server and you will get the information of this name server from the same website from which you register your domain. Suppose if you take a domain from GoDaddy, then it is the responsibility of GoDaddy's name server, take the user to your site.

Domain name parts

For example, We take runhealdsburg

https://www.runhealdsburg.com/

  1. Here first you see https. Https is an internet protocol, some rules have been made on the internet for every website URL. These rules are called internet protocols and every URL follows these rules. There are two types - first http and another is https. http stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol while https stands for Hypertext Transfer Protocol  Secure. If a site appears with a green stripe along with the symbol lock and "https". This means that the site meets the SSL standard and is secure.
  2. After this, you will see here www its full form is World Wide Web This is the subdomain of this URL.
  3. After this, imbochi.com is the domain name, it also has two parts, the first name is imbochi and second .com i.e. both together they form a domain name, it is unique to the website. means, if any domain name is registered with your name, no other domain name can be registered with that name. For example, another domain name cannot be registered under the name of xyz.com but you can register the domain name with another extension like xyz.in, xyz.co, or xyz.org, and so on.
